Operational Financial Intelligence is the next evolution of modern finance. While Continuous Accounting has transformed the way finance teams work, businesses now need something more: a platform that turns trusted financial data into better operational decisions. Over the past few months, I’ve been building PersoFi around this vision.
Over the past few months, I have been unusually quiet. That wasn’t because I’d run out of ideas. Quite the opposite. I’ve been working with finance teams, refining PersoFi and developing an Operational Financial Intelligence platform that helps businesses move beyond Continuous Accounting towards greater visibility, control, execution and trust.
Along the way, I read Oracle NetSuite’s excellent white paper on Continuous Accounting. It reinforced something I’ve believed for many years: finance teams spend too much time producing information and not enough time using it to improve the business.
I agree with much of their vision.
But I also believe the next chapter has already begun.
The journey to Continuous Accounting
For decades, finance has been driven by the month-end close.
The process is familiar:
- Chase missing information.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Process supplier invoices.
- Prepare journals.
- Correct errors.
- Produce management accounts.
Continuous Accounting changes this mindset.
Rather than treating month-end as a single event, accounting activities become part of the daily routine. Automation replaces repetitive tasks, data is updated continuously, and finance gains access to more timely information.
This is a significant step forward.
Continuous Accounting is becoming the foundation
Today’s finance teams have access to remarkable technology.
Cloud accounting platforms such as Xero and NetSuite.
Invoice automation through products.
Daily bank reconciliations.
Debtor collection platforms.
Automated journal entries.
These capabilities are increasingly becoming standard practice.
Every finance team should embrace them.
In fact, PersoFi assumes these foundations already exist.
We are not trying to replace them.
But questions still remain
After all the automation is complete…
Can you trust your management accounts?
Can you trust the supplier balances?
Can you confidently approve a payment run?
Can you see what cash will actually leave the business this month?
Can you identify missing supplier invoices before month-end?
Can you explain operational movements behind the numbers?
In my experience as a CFO, these are still the questions that keep finance leaders awake at night.
They are not accounting problems.
They are business decision problems.
Introducing Operational Financial Intelligence
This is where PersoFi has evolved.
We no longer think only about accounting.
We think about decisions.
Operational Financial Intelligence connects the finance function with the operational reality of the business.
It answers questions such as:
- What should I pay today?
- What cash do I need next week?
- Which supplier balances cannot yet be trusted?
- Which invoices are still missing?
- Which customers require follow-up?
- Where are we losing money through missed recharge opportunities?
- Can I present these management accounts to the board with confidence?
These questions sit above the accounting system.
The PersoFi approach
Our philosophy is built around four pillars.
Visibility
Understand today’s financial position before making tomorrow’s decisions.
See cash, debtors, suppliers, expected receipts, payment commitments and treasury forecasts in one place.
Control
Build confidence in the underlying data.
Supplier reconciliations.
Missing invoices.
Recovery opportunities.
Financial validation.
Execution
Transform trusted information into action.
Create intelligent payment runs.
Approve exceptions.
Connect directly with modern banking rails such as Wise.
Trust
Only when visibility, control and execution work together can finance produce management accounts that business owners, lenders, boards and investors genuinely trust.
Trust is not another report.
Trust is confidence in every financial decision.
Building on—not replacing—the finance stack
PersoFi is designed to complement your existing finance ecosystem.
If you already use:
- Xero or NetSuite
- Dokka or another invoice automation platform
- Daily bank reconciliations
- Debtor collection software
that’s excellent.
Those systems provide the foundation.
PersoFi builds on top of them by creating an operational intelligence layer that helps finance teams understand, validate and act on their data.
The future is the CFO Command Centre
I believe the finance office is changing.
Tomorrow’s CFO won’t begin the day by asking:
“Has month-end been completed?”
Instead, they’ll open a command centre that immediately answers:
- What happened yesterday?
- What needs my attention today?
- What decisions should I make?
- Can I trust the numbers?
That is the vision behind PersoFi.
Not another accounting system.
Not another dashboard.
But a platform that connects operational activity with financial intelligence—helping finance teams move beyond continuous accounting towards something even more valuable:
Operational Financial Intelligence.
Final thoughts
Operational Financial Intelligence is the next step.
As PersoFi enters its beta phase and expands into additional use cases, I’ll be sharing more about this journey, the lessons we’ve learned, and why I believe the future of finance is not simply about faster accounting—but about enabling better business decisions.
We’re now inviting a select group of CFOs, finance leaders, outsourced accounting firms, and implementation partners to join our beta programme. If you’d like to help shape the future of Operational Financial Intelligence and become one of our founding partners, I’d love to hear from you.
